| Frequently Asked Questions Who is welcome and who attends Asians & Friends potlucks and events?: Members and guests range in age from early 20s, 30s, and 40s, to some who are of a more distinguished age. This includes international students, managers, lawyers, doctors, bankers, retailers, real estate professionals, CEOs, accountants, artists, clerks, travel agents, psychologists, therapists, and engineers - singles, couples of all ages and ethnicities, many in long-term committed relationships for years or even decades, that share a common background and purpose: friendship and mutual support for one another. Some members are very "closeted" or questioning their sexual orientation; supportive heterosexual family and friends often attend Asians & Friends events and potlucks; other members are somewhere in the coming-out process, and members who have lived openly gay for many years. Many of the members of Asians & Friends Denver trace their roots to back to China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Singapore, Hawaii, the Philippines, India, and many Middle-Eastern countries. Although most members are Asian-American, the rest are non-Asian. Currently, men comprise of most of our membership - women are encouraged and welcome to join. Asians & Friends is a vibrant group about friendship, fun, support and professional networking welcoming everyone from anywhere on the globe. There are same-gender couples in long-term, committed relationships that span multiple decades. There are single people in Asians & Friends, both members and guests, who may be interested in meeting someone special with the goal of a long-term, committed relationship. There are also members and guests who are single, but are not ready for a relationship at this time. What if I am not Asian? We welcome members of all races, culture and backgrounds. You need not be Asian. Approximately half of our membership is non-Asian. We have people from all walks of life with the common thread of support, honest fun, friendships and appreciation for Asian culture and peoples. Asians and Friends endeavor is to create a safe environment for gay men and women who are looking for an alternative social outlet to the scene whilst providing a harassment-free atmosphere for Asians against unwanted advances. We always stress that we are not a dating club and welcome anyone who is looking for friendship and camaraderie. Of course, single persons may meet a future lifelong partner at the club, but our primary goal is to provide a space where people can socialize, share common interests, build bridges between different cultures and have fun. Individuals often sometimes develop lasting relationships with other members of the group and we are happy to provide opportunities for fellowship for our members. We encourage everyone to make safe, informed, healthy and responsible decisions and treat others with sincerity, honesty, respect and dignity. When does Asians & Friends meet? We have monthly potlucks and frequent social/recreational events. Please see our Upcoming Events. Where is Asians & Friends Denver? We meet at host members homes and condominiums for potlucks, events and social gatherings. In addition we have a variety of outdoor events throughout the year. The Asians & Friends Denver Logo: Our logo includes a "two-hand friendship" design. It is actually a stylized but distinctive version of the Yin and Yang concept and symbolizes the clubs goal of promoting friendship and harmony amongst the peoples of the East and the West.
